2019 Calendar of Events

The Old Derbeian Society run a programme of annual events alongside several informal events throughout the year. We will keep this page up to date with events as they are confirmed and also let you know in the regular mailshots we will be sending out in 2019.



February 2019

5th Feb. at 5pm

Annual General Meeting – Derby Grammar School Followed by a Committee Meeting

March 2019
Saturday 16th March starting at 10.00 a.m. until 3.00 p.m.


DGS Parent Teacher Association (PTA) Annual Food Fayre.


Please Note – On this same day the School are having their ‘Open Day’ for potential parents and their families;

12.05 pm Tuesday 26th March – Class of 1950 Reunion. Five Lamps Pub Duffield Road 

Sunday 31st March starting at 11.00 a.m. at Derby School Sports Hall Centre at Mackworth the Annual OD Society Hockey Match versus DGS 1st Team Hockey Team;

Another 5-2 win for the ODs in a closely fought match.


May 2019
Sunday 26th May starting at 11.00
Annual Cricket Match – Hilton Cricket Club Marston Lane, Hilton DE65 5GB
ODs versus DGS 1 XI for the sanders Cup



June 2019

22nd June – Annual Dinner – The Grange Banqueting Suite Derby. Reception 6.30pm on the Garden Terrace

12 midday 27th June – 1947ers Reunion – Georgian House Hotel Ashbourne Road

Tuesday 3rd September starting at 12 noon at Georgian House Hotel, Ashbourne Road, Derby the Annual Cadet Corps Reunion

Tuesday 17th September – Class of 1950 Reunion – 12.05pm at The Five Lamps Pub Duffield Road (Lunch & informal reunion)

The David Walker Memorial Lecture. Speaker this year is Jimmy McLoughlin, an OD of Derby Grammar School and now a government adviser on business.
