This reply received from Terry Hurst OD (1952-1957) who had not been in touch with the society for a number of years. It was really rewarding to receive the following from Terry, after our archivist had been in touch with him. He is now on our mailing list and will receive all our correspondence from now on.
Hi Graham
Many thanks for prompt action in sending the newsletter. I have spent a couple of very happy hours this morning exploring the website and enjoying the happy memories thus brought to mind. I moved away from Derby in 1962, just five years after leaving school, and after spells in Birmingham and Northampton I moved to the north east in 1973. Weekend working and a growing family made it difficult to maintain contact and thus for much of the intervening years I have been but a silent member. I look forward to reading further issues of the newsletter with great interest. It was a huge privilege to attend DS (1952-57) and I have always valued the association.
Best wishes for the new year
Kind regards
